There really hasn’t been that much to report as of late. Today marks one drastic exception, though. I was told to swing by my Admin shop to debrief my latest evaluation report. I get evaluated twice a year, and I always get nervous to find out how well I did. Here is a break down of how it works.
Several areas of job performance are evaluated, including your leadership skills, dress and appearance, professional knowledge and so on. There are a total of 5 points max that can be awarded for each of these areas, and an average is calculated. This performance mark average will determine, to an extent, promotability to the next pay grade. You can get an EP (Early Promote), MP (Must Promote), P (Promotable)…or if you are a complete screw-up you can get an SP (Significant Problems).
I work very, very hard every day and often times I feel like it goes unnoticed. Today, however, I found out just how noticed I am. I got an EP Eval, the highest I can get. I get ranked along with all of the other Third Class Petty Officers in my department. Only one of us ever gets an EP, and the rest get MPs or Ps. I am pretty happy that I got an EP, especially considering how hard I have worked to get it. I have to give credit to my supervisor, IT1 Sanico, because she is the one that pushes me to work just that little bit harder and to go the extra mile.
I will still have to wait a year to advance to the next pay grade, but I am fine with that. I am going to work just as hard until then, if not harder.
WAY TO GO BRIAN! You are such a hard worker how could people NOT notice? Keep up the good work! Love you – MOM
